The micro gardening and entrepreneurship program is one of the most successful we offer. The program first teaches students how to make and manage their very own micro garden, then entrepreneurship, specifically related to micro gardening, gives them the knowledge to use that skill to make money and improve their livelihood. This program has been implemented many times and funded by ITC, YEP, and The European Union.

Soap production is a skill we have been teaching at MyFarm and across the Gambia for a long time. Soap production is a great skill to learn in rural Africa and can be turned into a business very easily and quickly. After facilitating soap production training at Mile2 prison in the Gambia in 2020, we have had 3 inmates leave and start their own successful soap businesses.

These newly developed programs are perfect to give students a marketable skill that is needed on the ground. Mixing the skill with entrepreneurship then gives students the knowledge to use that skill to support themselves and their families. Current TVET programs are welding, solar installation, and organic farming. We are expanding this all the time, and if you have a TVET skill you would like to train people in, we can quickly create applications and training guides to help with students learn in the program.

The Permaculture training program is newly developed, but it is already attracting a lot of attention amongst our partners. ITC and The European Union have already funded the first 4 week trial of the program in the Gambia. The program is heavy on practical skills that anybody can learn to help improve their land, to improve their yield, to then improve their livelihood. MyFarm will be the location of the trial and will showcase how students can work with their space to grow huge amounts, with a large diversity, and also how and what to grow to turn plants into products.
